My Students
I serve a PreKindergarten class in a culturally diverse school that includes many backgrounds within Houston ISD. My class size is currently 22 and increasing. Our school has a music program that allows each grade level to explore different forms of music. We are also identified as a Title I school and over half our student receive a reduced or free breakfast and lunch. We also have a population of 25% English Language Learners who are able to enter our bilingual/ESL program.
My early learners love to explore through meaningful play and interact with each other!
My Project
Children who enter pre-kindergarten are in need of fundamental skills that include social-emotional skills, creative play, academics and so much more!
My students will use the nuts and bolts, bristle builders, design builders, pipe cleaners, and slot-a shape builders to develop eye/hand coordination, fine motor and social skills as they work together to construct numbers, letters, words, stories and other complex designs using their imagination.
In addition to the use of their imagination I support my students with guided questions and other themed based resources that will motivate them to use their own thoughts to produce a master peice.
