Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a special education classroom because they have moderate to severe disabilities impairing their developmental growth such as adaptive, communication, and social skills. As much as we want them to be integrated into the general education classroom, they need to spend much of their time in my classroom to receive support from the rigorous demand of the learning process.
Now that we're back to in-person learning, we continue facilitating their learning experience in the classroom.
My students' eagerness to learn has not waned, but all the more invigorated. We focus on learning functional skills such as daily living, personal care, functional academics, vocational, recreation and leisure, and community-based instruction.
My Project
As students return to in-person learning, our classroom technology has to be updated to cater to new and pressing student needs. One of these needs is to be able to focus on learning functional math skills such as money math. The existing teacher desktop computer in my classroom is not able to function as efficiently as I want it to to facilitate these lessons.
With this iMac, I will be able to teach math lessons effectively given its functionality and versatility.
My students deserve efficient technology as they continue to learn important independent living skills inside the classroom.
