My Students

The students in my classroom are creative, hard-working fourth and fifth graders.

They are excited, curious, and happy to be apart of our classroom family. Our move to flexible seating has been hugely successful in the last year. My current focus is on helping develop my students into lifelong learners by showing them that learning can happen anywhere in any situation, even while playing and reading for fun.

My Project

One of the most difficult things for me as a teacher is balancing students who need more time to complete tasks with students who finish work quickly and need enrichment.

I feel passionately about helping to make students lifelong learners, even when they don't think they're learning, and a huge piece of that is giving them engaging options to fill their time when they have free time.

With an increase of technology in the classroom, I've found that students are beginning to lose basic critical thinking skills, like playing cooperatively, reading and following directions, and developing a strategy. By adding engaging games, puzzles, and books to my classroom, I open up a world of opportunities for my "early finishers" to develop these critical skills while having fun in their free classroom time.
