I'm Supposed To Do What With That!!!????

My students need a spectrophotometer to successfully complete one of the mandatory AP Biology labs, a magnetic stirrer in order to accurately prepare solutions for further testing, face masks to protect their lungs from the fumes produced by some of the more vigorous reactions, extra large disposable gloves, dropping bottles so that they can accurately mix reagents, and cork borers for use in making samples for osmosis and diffusion experiments as well as for making holes in cork stoppers.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Murphy's classroom raised $1,130

This project is fully funded

I am honored to work with brilliant young people. They have talent, they have dreams, they have intelligence, but they do not have confidence. Because we are the rural poor, they believe that they are denied access to the tools that will make them competitive in college. I teach 9th grade Biology, 11th grade Anatomy and Physiology, and 12th grade Advanced Placement Biology. Ours is a poor community and it is often hard to convince my students that the outside world cares that they exist.

This is the first time that my school has offered an Advanced Placement science course – and it’s the first time that I have taught it. While we are not without equipment, much of it is outdated and in disrepair. I am putting resources into repairing some of the equipment however, we simply don’t have a lot of the equipment that we need. A recent graduate told me that she simply felt outclassed by her fellow college students because she did not even know what the equipment was, much less how to use it. I am determined that my students will not be so disadvantaged again!

My students will benefit from new laboratory equipment because they will be able to development laboratory skills that they will use to solve real world problems. We are currently working on a project revolving around the economic development of a local river. I want my students to believe in their ability to impact their community and ultimately their world

I give my students my knowledge, my passion, my faith in them, and my devotion. I also donate what limited funds a public school teacher has available. But they need so much more than I can give them. I know that you will believe in my students as much as I do. Through your generosity you can show them that they do matter and that they deserve the training to make real differences in their community and ultimately their country. Thank you for your considered support of my kids.
