I’m Reading and Loving It!

My Students

I have a class of 30 respectful, smart, and responsible students. Over 90% of my students live in poverty and their families are struggling to make ends meet. School supplies are not a priority for most.

I love that my students are resilient and continue to beat the odds regardless of the situation.

My Project

This graphic novel collection will help my students enjoy reading. Instilling a love of reading early gives a child a head start on expanding their vocabulary and building independence and self-confidence. It helps children learn to make sense not only of the world around them but also people, building social-emotional skills and of course, imagination.

Students are more likely to enjoy reading and want to read if the material is fun and something they are able to relate to.

Teachers have to provide a variety of reading materials so students can enjoy what they are reading.
