My Project
As soon as any student completes the daily objective, it's a make-it or break-it moment. I can either stoke the fire on their interest or let it fizzle and go out. . . Some lessons have built-in extensions to dig deeper or propose another alternative, but for those that don't, I'm creating a place in the room for early finishers.

With just a couple of minutes left: Choose a Brain-teaser or Spot-the-difference.
Have more time: Choose to "Complete this Design" or "Solve the Mystery".
You (partners) have finished: Use a whiteboard and practice guessing each other's "Draw Words" using this week's vocab.
Your team has completed everything: "Be a TA" (Teaching Assistant) for this period so you may split up and help others. Don't forget your wristbands!
With a little extra planning and a few key items, we can keep ALL students challenged, engaged, and feeling good about their work throughout the whole class period. We already have procedures in place to help those who are struggling but never want to forget those valuable moments when the quickest or most clever student on that particular day could be a STAR! These little extras are the things I remember most from school and want to make sure my students do too.
