My Project
My Title I fourth grade classroom will consist of approximately 52 amazing young, eager personalities from diverse backgrounds each bringing in their own unique capabilities. We are in need of these basic classroom supplies.
My fourth grade students need to be able to show understanding as well as work struggle through the use of their own lined white board so I can individually see their progress in becoming proficient in their academics.
I work in a Title I school where almost all of my amazing students come from lower-income, single-parent households. My students come to school with the bare minimum. COVID is still taking a toll on household finances. It has also created HUGE learning gaps in their progress. Many of my scholars are well below grade level. School supplies are rare when they come in. Expo markers and white boards are at the bottom of the supply list in the mind of a parent.
Lined whiteboards will help in math operations. I plan on using the boards vertically so we can use the spaces between the lines to correctly line our digits up for math practice. As I tell my scholars: "ONLY ONE digit is allowed in a column." These boards will help my scholars during independent math work.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
