My Students
My first graders live in a diverse neighborhood consisting of hard working people and unfortunately, many bad influences. Their parents often work more than one job to make ends meet. Many parents are English language learners themselves and cannot always help the students with their homework. They are lucky to attend a school that may be poor but has an administration with bold ambitions for them.
All children imagine themselves to be scientists!
Mine are no exception. They are so curious about the world around them and want to know more, more, more!
My Project
Using the two microscopes, along with slides and cover slips I am requesting, my students will get the opportunity to get a close look at the world around them. Very few things give a closer look than microscopes!

Children are natural scientists - when given the opportunity. In this era of small children spending too much of their days watching flashing images on video screens, I want to give my little 6 year olds the chance to look closely at how amazing their world is. A child who understands science has endless opportunities in their future.
