Hi! I'm a second grade teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have 20 active and motivated learners in my classroom. I am writing this proposal to enrich my reading curriculum by creating a readers' theater program.
Readers' theater is a really fun way for students to build their reading fluency. Being a fluent reader is a key to becoming a strong reader. I've put together a few scripts this year and my students love doing them. They even encourage each other to "act it out". Of course they keep asking for more scripts but they take quite awhile to create.
The materials I'm asking for would do all the work for me. The kits come with multiple scripts that are color coded for groups of four. Each character is a different color which really helps the flow of the script. The kits also cover several genres including mysteries, adventures, fantasies, and historical fiction. In addition to the script boxes, I'm asking for 2 sets of echo microphones. I know my students would be thrilled to be able to read their scripts using a microphone. They could pretend to be reading stars on stage!
