My Students
So much of learning is enriched with the addition of music. During daily instruction I enjoy integrating songs with various curricular areas. The use of an iPod digital player and portable speakers will allow for my students to integrate music into their learning on a daily basis.
I have a classroom of 26 fifth grade students, 11 girls and 15 boys.
Our school is a small, rural school located in North Carolina. We have an interesting blend of personalities in our classroom. My students have limited educational opportunities outside of the classroom, as many come from economically disadvantaged homes. All of my students share a love of music and enjoy the integration of songs into instruction. Many of the songs I wish to use in the classroom are in digital format and, unfortunately, I do not currently have the technology to play music in digital format in my classroom. The use of an iPod digital player and portable speakers would make that music accessible to all of the music lovers in my classroom.
My Project
Think of how catchy tunes often get stuck in your head and you will understand how teaching with music can be a positive approach. My students love the integration of music in the classroom. They love singing and making up songs to popular tunes that fit our curricular areas. Using an iPod digital player and portable speakers will provide my students with access to music that is currently available in digital format. I believe using this music in the classroom will only serve to enhance my students learning experiences, as they explore an additional avenue to mastering the curriculum through song.
I wish I had the funds to purchase the items requested for my classroom.
I believe all children deserve access to technologies and should master their use in order to function effectively in today's society. Using an iPod digital player and portable speakers will improve students' technological skills and also provide students with musical learning styles an opportunity to shine. All students deserve to have the materials they need in order to succeed.
