My Students
Sylvia Path stated, "The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt". Despite their many challenges, my students are on a creative journey seeking to build up their self-esteem and confidence. My job is to motivate them every step of the way, inspiring them to approach every experience with boldness.
My students are a "grape bunch" of individually minded, yet caring, generous and loving students whose interest in learning is extraordinary.
Their disabilities are shared and different, but what is a constant in my classroom is my students' unwavering determination to succeed, no matter how small or large a task may be. They participate fully in all classroom activities and can often be seen collaborating with one another. Attendance is very high among my students because they appear to enjoy being in school. They are a creative and an artistic bunch who love seeing their work displayed in various formats. My school is a Title I school where the majority of students receive free or reduced rate lunch. Mine is one of several classes of students with disabilities. Yet if one were to enter the school on any given day, one would notice very little or no difference in content teaching among the various classes. This I consider to be phenomenal and special.
My Project
Our IB curriculum is a fantastic one. We are teaching our students to be knowledgeable, risk takers, inquirers and technologically minded, global citizens. As such we do much project based work. This is why we need laminators, pouches and a book binder. Students are emboldened to produce great pieces of work. It is awful to see students' great work crumble or fade after a few weeks. We need laminators, a binding machine and pouches to preserve students' work. Students will be enthralled to see their finished work laminated or bound. Laminated or bound work bring pleasure to the students, who can proudly display their work on the school's bulletin boards. Students' parents can put their work on the walls at home. Then together, they can discuss or reflect on a particular piece. Many task cards for all areas can be created because of the laminating, binding machines and pouches. This will help students to learn more about the value of "reducing, reusing and recycling". Please help.
Disney states, "If you can dream it, you can do it".
My students are always dreaming. Some want to be writers, others artists and poets among many other things. Preserving their work is a must so that they are able to look back in later years after they have "done it" and say, "This was where my dream started". Please help me further my students' interest so they can continue on their path to self-discovery. The items I requested will carve new paths for my students. Please help!
