My Students

I teach at a unique urban school.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. I teach students Kindergarten through fifth grade, many of whom have individual needs that does not allow them to attend school daily. Many of the students I teach have emotional and social issues, have frequent medical treatments, have safety concerns, have difficulty in a traditional school setting and/or are homeless. My students each face their own challenges everyday outside of school.
My Project
My students need an iPad to view educational tutorials, practice educational skills and play educational games. The iPad will be a very beneficial educational tool to facilitate and promote independent learning. There are many free, educational applications available to teachers and students. My students can be independent learners guiding their own learning. The iPad will be a great supplemental tool for our classroom.
Many of my students do not have access to computers outside of school.
Having an iPad in class will allow them to access technology and information which will help them grow as learners. Having an iPad center in class will even out the playing field for those who do not have any other opportunities to access educational technology.
