My students need an iPad mini to customize their learning. Having an iPad will allow my students to explore technology and bring their learning to life.
O. Ivar Lovaas said, "If they can't learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn." Students are living in an ever-changing society. I try and apply this quote to my teaching every day.
I spend my days with 20 fun-loving first graders!
We have a variety of needs in our classroom. I work with several students that need extra support in reading and math. I also work with five English Language Learners that would benefit from a variety of lessons. They are all working hard to master the common core standards!
I work in the "Friendliest School in the Nation." Our students work hard and love coming to school each day. There are approximately 1,000 students that attend our K-5 building each day. Our school recently was designated as a reward school for our students high achievement. You can help us excite our students to learn more every day!
My Project
The iPad will be used during our daily reading and math workstations. The device will allow me to differentiate my instruction with independent practice at their academic level.
The iPad will also be used with several of my first graders to improve fine-motor skills. At the primary level, many students need practice using their fingers to help develop better muscle control. I have found some excellent applications that will help to develop these skills.
In addition to using the iPad to assist with fine-motor and pre-reading skills, it will also be used to record student reading. Student recordings have been proven to show increased comprehension, fluency and vocabulary.
We are working hard to provide students with many opportunities to improve their math fluency. My students will also use the iPad to create story problems and share their creations with their peers.
Please help me "hook" my firsties!
My desire is to provide my students with as many learning opportunities as possible. The iPad will provide countless experiences. It is a medium of learning that the children find highly engaging. With an iPad, I can focus my instruction on very specific skills for each child that is utilizing it. The iPad would be used by numerous children on a daily basis. Please consider donating to help get an iPad for my firsties! You can make a difference! Thank you!!!
