This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning I watch 18 fearless and eager EL kindergarten students walk through my doorway ready to learn! Their compassion towards each other, thirst to learn new things, and willingness to help others make my classroom environment ideal.

Our school consists of almost 1,000 students that represent 26 different languages.

Our diverse school is full of students who are eager and wanting to learn. The majority of my students live in homes where English is not spoken at all. The only chance at learning English is within our school walls. I incorporate lots of hands on activities, as well as lots of opportunities for students to speak in their first and second language. All of my students are completely fearless when it comes to using technology. They gravitate towards it and try their hardest to be the first at the tablet center when it is one of their choices.

My Project

My students will use this iPad, case, headphones, and screen protector during reading centers, guided reading, RTII small group time, math centers, as well as guided math. Students will be able to use apps and software that was purchased through the school, as well as other software I currently own. These materials will help my students with varying levels practice both their literacy and mathematics skills in a fun and interactive way.

Having this technology during our reading and mathematics blocks will help my EL students practice their skills and gain confidence in a fun and interactive way.

These necessary skills will allow lots of differentiated opportunities to practice these vital skills throughout the school day during structured and unstructured times.
