My Students
I am an occupational therapist who services two schools in Brooklyn's East New York. My students are an enthusiastic and diverse bunch of learners attending a Title I school where all of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My students face many challenges to learning including autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorders, emotional disturbances, learning disabilities, and speech and language issues. Behavior is best managed when my students are engaged and challenged.
To best address their learning needs, I need new and academically rigorous, hands-on activities and materials.
My Project
My students learn best and show the most progress when they are actively engaged in learning. They love technology and are motivated to use games and tablets at school. This requested iPad will be used in small groups and individual instruction to promote the development of skills my students need to become proficient in literacy, math and other subject areas.
The Osmo Genius kit will motivate my students to sharpen their skills through games and peer interaction.
It will also provide my students with multiple opportunities to practice and master literacy, math and logic skills they have learned at school.
