I have been an educator for 11 years.

For the past 3 years, I have been teaching 2nd grade in a low income school to children of various cultural backgrounds. My goal is to have my students be college and career ready by helping them acquire the skills needed to succeed in the future. Education is continuously changing on both state and federal levels. Most of these changes include technology which is not provided in my district. It is imperative for both teachers and students learn the latest technology and skills for classroom use.

My Project

I am requesting an Ipad to take to professional development workshops and conferences whether online or face-to-face. Most Professional Development workshops recommend teachers bring technology to enhance the experience of the workshop. Our state as adopted the Common Core Standards and it is mandated that teachers attend a LETRS (Language Essentials For Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training to help enhance reading comprehension in young readers. The knowledge and skills I will gain from the training will help improve my students' reading and writing skills. I will also use the Ipad to collaborate with teachers within my district during Professional Learning Communities to continue to learn best practices to use in the classroom. Students need more advanced technology in classrooms. I will use the Ipad with my students by I downloading apps to improve reading and math skills.

This project will help me gain more hands-on experience with technology as I further my knowledge attending professional development workshops.

This Ipad used for professional development would help me to continue to learn how to guide my instruction and guide my students on different levels.
