My Students
My students often have few opportunities with technology, but an anticipation and excitement for more exposure to it. The prospect of using an iPad in the classroom will offer my students all of these. An iPad in the classroom would make a huge difference!
My 3rd graders attend a Title 1 school in Tennessee.
They are kind, creative, and inquisitive children. At our school each class is allotted an hour a week to use the computer lab. My students devour this time, and despite the inconsistency of the computers, they look forward to it each week.
My Project
My students need an iPad and protective case to improve their access to technology that is not only fun, but provides many opportunities for educational apps.
An iPad in the classroom would ensure that students were using technology everyday. The iPad and it's incredible app library could easily be used in daily reading and math rotations. The iPad could also be used in writing, social studies, and science as a computer/research device.
Every child needs to know how to safely look up something on the Internet and every child needs to know how to save a word document. Having limited access to the computer lab has slowed the process of learning these 21st century skills, yet my students' enthusiasm for technology remains.
One of my goals for my students is to provide a variety of material to meet individual needs.
Being able to differentiate daily activities on the iPad will help me meet my goal. Not only will I be able to seek activities and reading materials for each individual student, I will be able to monitor their progress.
