This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I run a primary intervention program at a Title I school. My program is designed to provide supplemental academic support to students in grades K-3. My students are enthusiastic learners. Most of them are English Language Learners who speak Spanish as a primary language.
I am the primary intervention teacher at my school.
Prior to taking this position, I taught in a general education setting. I currently work with students in grades K-3, but I've also had the opportunity to work with upper grade students. This MacBook Pro will help me improve my teaching practice. In addition, I plan to create lessons that are interactive and engaging.
My Project
I will be attending two Common Core trainings this spring. The workshops will help me create lessons that are aligned with the new standards. I hope to be able to use this laptop to research additional resources in order to implement these standards. There are several online resources such as achievethecore and engageny that I plan to use. Both of these sites have sample lessons for teachers. I hope to be able to watch professional teaching videos that will help me grow as an educator. The teaching channel has lessons that cover a variety of topics including Close Reading. YouTube has tutorials for teachers seeking new ideas. Some of the videos demonstrate how to incorporate music into your lessons. I would also like to research software that I can eventually download to this laptop. There are a variety of programs for early literacy. Learn to Read with Phonics is one of them. I hope to be able to share all of this knowledge with my students.
Your donations are greatly appreciated.
The MacBook Pro will help me improve my teaching practice. I will be able to plan lessons that are interactive and engaging. My students will learn skills they can apply in real world settings.
