'Ike Loa Internships

My Project

At 'Ike Loa we have six high school students interning at a local business within the community. We also work at an Elementary school. At the elementary school, students run a coffee/tea cart for the faculty and staff. Students work on social skills, money, following directions, and various soft skills it takes to run a small business.

My students do hands-on Wait for Staff/Server tasks to prepare them for the real world, and they also go off campus to generalize these skills.

One of these skills they need to learn is taking orders and delivering ice, blended, or hot coffee to staff. The ice maker and flavors will expand our student's skills as they learn to use a blender, make various types of coffee, and offer more on our coffee menu. These skills will eventually open opportunities to work as Wait Staff/Server around our town.
