My Project

My students are curious, imaginative, and eager to explore new worlds through literature. To help them grow as readers and thinkers, I want to provide them with access to high-quality books that expose them to a range of genres—especially the magic of fantasy.

I'm requesting three class sets of the novel Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher by Bruce Coville.

This story introduces students to the fantasy genre in an accessible, age-appropriate way. It's full of imagination, humor, and heart—a perfect entry point into the power of fantasy literature.

Reading across genres is essential for developing well-rounded, enthusiastic readers. When students are exposed to different types of stories—realistic fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, historical fiction—they build critical thinking skills, broaden their worldviews, and discover what kinds of books they truly enjoy. Fantasy, in particular, helps children stretch their imaginations, consider ethical dilemmas, and explore themes of identity and bravery in creative ways.

With these books, my students will be able to read together, engage in thoughtful discussions, and deepen their love of reading. Thank you for helping us hatch a love for literature—dragon-sized!
