Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a low-income inner city school that is one of the top-performing schools in the state. Our school is a very ethnically diverse school in the Bronx. I engage my students in hands-on learning activities that are both academically challenging and personally meaningful.
My fifth and sixth grade class consists of 40 highly motivated students who face everyday challenges living in a big city yet they are very eager to excel academically.
They come to school each day excited to learn. My students want to do well in school and to go to university to become programmers, engineers, scientists, doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers, professors, and other professionals. They excel in math and science through hard work, collaborative learning, and creative problem solving.
My Project
My 5th and 6th grade students have a strong desire to turn their classrooms into engaging STEM classrooms using project-based and problem-based learning activities and interactive online math and science applications. With additional resources like tablets, our students will learn how to use the latest online apps. Tablets help students engage more creatively with dynamic math and science applications.
Creating a tablet-infused STEM classroom will allow my students to become more engaged using interactive online applications.
In our tablet infused STEM classroom, students come together to work on challenging math and science problems. My students are especially motivated and excited whey they apply their knowledge and skills in STEM subjects using hands-on learning. Thus, a chief aim of creating a tablet infused STEAM classroom is to develop students into critical thinkers and creative problem solvers.
