This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
First grade is all about reading; learning to, practicing and loving it.
My students know what book they want to read.
They like a book that is readable and engaging. I frequently hear, "My book is broken!" The book hospital is full of broken books. My students have been through the pages many, many times. The books don't last forever, but my students' interest seems to.
My Project
With an infusion of new books, my students have the joy of reading at their fingertips. They also get the responsibility of taking care of books. They can appreciate any book, but a book with all of its pages and covers that are fully intact are even better.
By donating to this project, my students get a feeling of rejuvenation of spirit.
The spirit and feeling of a new book can transport them into the world of reading and introduce them to new places and experiences, all of this in a simple, beautiful book.
