My Students
For an excellent education, art is a necessity! Unfortunately art supplies are consumable, and need to be replaced.
My students attend an inner city public school.
Most are from low income families and many of them receive free lunch every day. Parents who can, will provide students with school supplies at the beginning of the school year, but those supplies are often sent home to enable students to complete their homework. The school budget provides an amazing art teacher at our school but doesn't always leave room for the supplies that are necessary to properly stock the art room.
My Project
Your donation of colored pencils, crayons, markers, and oil pastels will provide the necessary materials for a school of 400 children to draw, color, and create! Our preschoolers will explore the elements of art such as line, shape, texture and color with crayons and colored pencils. Our primary students will learn to use basic shapes to create people, animals and landscapes. They will explore habitats and animal camouflage using colored pencils and markers. Our intermediate students will make their own Matisse drawings and self portraits, while having a chance to work with oil pastels.
As adults, when we look back on our schooling, many of us remember art projects that we made in elementary school.
Artwork is an extension of our self and therefore often holds a special, personal meaning. Please help my students to experience the visual arts and realize their artistic potential. Thank you!
