We work HARD to get what we need. My school is located in a high needs area in a large urban city. I teach computer technology to students in grades K through 5. We have a deep desire to learn and achieve, although we may not always have the means to make it happen. We work HARD to get and stay ahead.

My students love to see their work and their community in a positive light, since this is not usually the case. If I can encourage them to find, record and write about the good things happening in their lives,they have a brighter view of the future and their role in making it positive. Our class and school newspaper is one vehicle to do this.

My students need relevant examples of local and national events and news. I want to encourage them to participate in documenting news in school and in their community. A digital camera would enable us to include their observations in our classroom/school newspaper.

Your help will allow my students to include their observations in their publications. We won't be dependent on clip-art or other open source artwork to convey their thoughts. This is important in helping build positive self and community images. Thank you!
