This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I love greeting my third graders every morning with high fives, hugs, or just a simple hello. My students come from many different backgrounds, but one thing is the same - we all want to grow as a community of learners. We practice cooperative learning and love to explore new ideas and solve problems together. They embrace any challenge with gusto, whether they are completing an obstacle course, learning a song to perform, building the tallest balloon tower they can, or diving into a new chapter book.
My students learn to create documents and slide shows to share their ideas and show what they have learned.
Anything from a spelling list, to vocabulary words, to stories- you name it, we can create it! Of course, when you create any document, it's important to check your work. If each student had their own computer mouse, they would be able to with ease. I can't wait to see what else they create.
My Project
How many times have you written something, then wanted to go back to make it better? I personally have rewritten this paragraph about 4 times!
Imagine being new at using a computer with a screen, keyboard and touchpad, mainly because all the adults and teens around you use is smartphones.
You peck at the keys,and the going is slow. You want to change something, but moving the "little arrow" or "funny shaped I" to make things just right, is hard.
Then you are handed a device that fits perfectly in your hand and lets you choose and move and highlight to your heart's content. You can click on that word you need to change. You can move that picture to the other side of the paragraph You can resize that text box with ease. You can highlight words you think you need help spelling. No, it's not a wizard's wand, it's a computer mouse! That's what I want for my students. Could you help me make a little magic happen?
