This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our mission is to end the reign of sub-par yearbooks! This will be the third year of our school being open, and we are determined to create a unique and compelling yearbook experience for our students this year.
The students of the Digital Multimedia class are incredibly gifted artists and their quality of work has grown exponentially since beginning the course.
They are talented in different ways, but have shown a passion for learning as much as possible about graphic arts. Each student brings a different perspective to our project, that has helped it grow into something amazing.
My Project
The cameras we currently own were purchased in our first year as a way to document learning, but they do not produce high enough quality pictures to print. The students will use the cameras to take pictures of the students during different classes, at sporting events and ceremonies. They will also use the video function to record student activities and video letters from staff and students. This work will culminate in a yearbook completely designed and created by the students from scratch. They will create their own templates and backgrounds and we will have the final product professionally printed. The students are going to take the project a step further and create a digital version of the yearbook as well. It will have even more pictures and include the videos we record.
Having the access to the technology we require will benefit the students now, for this project, and in the future as well.
The skills that they learn in this class will stay with them as they go to college and enter the work force, and they will make them more valuable. It will also improve their self-worth when they see the culmination of their hard work, the best yearbook yet!
