This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 1st grade at a school that services preK-8th grade. Our school culture is very diverse. My class consists of 22 motivated students. They come to school with smiles on their faces and eager to learn!

My young students are passionate about protecting our beaches and marine life.

Our school is right by the beach! My first graders love learning about their community and other parts of the world. They want to making a difference and become active members of their community. Their curiosity to find answers to questions lead to wonderful learning opportunities in the classroom.

My Project

My class needs a sturdy durable magnetic easel to help them begin their journey as readers and writers. I would like to offer my first graders a variety of avenues where they can implement the skills they are learning. Shared reading and writing on our easel will allow this to happen.

Our easel will allow me to work with my students at every level of their literacy learning journey.

Our easel will be located at our class meeting area where students will gather on the carpet to share new reading and writing skills. As a community of learners my class will offer suggestions or follow along to reading passages. We can work on a writing piece together and students can add edit writing. The learning opportunities are endless!

Exposing my students to different methods of learning will create a more diverse learning environment for my students. My goal this year is for all 22 of my students to be successful in all academic and social areas!
