This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Children have keen eyes for observation, but often lack the confidence and skills to draw what they see. I teach third grade in an urban high-need community at a Title I school.
The children in my class have a classroom garden plot and are studying the science of growing things, but have no quality materials for drawing. They have demonstrated interest in drawing, but lack the skills and materials to really flourish.
I have requested watercolor paper and pencils and several children's art books to inspire their work. With these in hand, I will be able to guide them through the process of recording their observations in a realistic and artistic manner.
Your support will show children their work is valued and give them the opportunity to create and record with real art materials. I would like to thank you in advance for your consideration and support in our efforts to build a well-rounded education for all our children.
