Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school, where 100% of students qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch. All of my students come from low-income neighborhoods, where most parents have to work countless hours to provide basic needs for their children. Needless to say, the pandemic has only made their economic situation worse.

My students are loving, energetic, and enthusiastic learners who come from diverse cultural backgrounds and the majority are learning English as a second language.

For the majority of my students this year, distance learning is their first "school" experience. Most of my students enter "school" with limited previous exposure to academic and social settings outside of their homes. I want to make their "first school" experience the BEST experience possible, given these unprecedented times. I need your help to provide my young scholars with diverse resources to allow them to grow academically and shine individually even through distance learning.

My Project

Distance learning is full of challenges. One of the biggest challenges for my students is being able to focus and concentrate on our distance learning lessons due to outside factors, such as multiple children Zooming in one room or just the background noise from the environment. My students' homes have become their classrooms and even though parents are trying their best, it is difficult for students to focus on schoolwork with all the distractions around them. My students desperately need headphones so that they can listen and concentrate on their learning while tuning out all the home distractions around them.

I am requesting a class set of headphones to maximize my students' learning potential as they navigate through this distance learning journey.

At this moment my students do not have headphones and they have a very difficult time focusing and learning. The headphones would increase my students' learning potential by allowing them to listen and learn. Thank you for considering helping out my students—they are our future.
