My Students

These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye in March it would mean that it was our last day in the classroom. However, the year is not over yet!

My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!

We are actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate two times a week in Zoom meetings to review standards previously taught, go over new material, and to check in with each other. In addition, I am posting lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things.

My Project

This 3D printer will bring our digital projects to life! Students are researching human rights activists while exploring inequality throughout history in a novel study of Esperanza Rising. They are using online sources to examine monuments that they will see in-person when we take a field trip to Washington, DC at the end of the school year (hopefully to be rescheduled for my 5th graders at a future date due to Covid 19, otherwise my 4th graders will definitely take this trip next year regardless). As their project for their human rights research, they must design a monument honoring the activist using TinkerCad 3D design software. The elements of the monument must have an intentional meaning related to research.

By helping to fund this project, you will bring our students' monuments to life!

During distance learning I will demonstrate sending a TinkerCad creation to print on the Flashforge 3D printer. Once their projects are printed, I will mail them to the students who designed them.

The digital world comes to reality in 3D! Of course, the 3D printer will be used in future projects as well. Once we return to school, the 3D printer will become a favorite tool in our classroom! It will be a wonderful addition to the technology resources for our school to enhance the coding and programming we are currently constructing while doing. Our students benefit from digital experiences with real-world applications. You can help our program grow!
