Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the luckiest teacher in the world because I get to spend each day with enthusiastic little learners who are eager. They love to learn and find answers to questions.

I work with many students who are English language learners and students with special needs, but they are the hardest workers I know!

My students need a comfortable environment so they feel at ease and confident each day and ready to learn.

Many students do not have many books at home. They need classroom books that are engaging to foster a love of learning. These students usually have farther to go, but they reach goals because of their effort.

My Project

I would love to add the these books to my classroom library as mentor texts. Each day, my students write for up to 45 minutes. THat is a LONG time for first graders! One way they accomplish this is through a multitude of role models.

These trade books including books by Ezra Jack Keats, Julia Cook, Kathy Stinson, Margie Palatini, Karen Kauffman, Kathleen Doherty, and Gail Gibbons will serve as focal points during my writing mini lessons.

These books will help my students get ideas to write personal narratives, nonfiction texts, and persuasive writing pieces. These books are needed for students' to read and reread and refer to as they explore as authors!
