My Students
My students are "rookies in reading". They are the students that have been identified as reading below grade level expectations, some diagnosed dyslexic, that require Tier 3 intervention. With English having 1,120 ways to create 44 sounds, it's my job to help them decipher all that comes with reading!
My students come to my classroom with a growth mindset ready to tackle the lessons objective!
Their determination and perseverance are what drives me to work harder. They are truly inspirational!
My Project
Small group guided reading if not differentiated by the teacher can become redundant and boring. The materials I am requesting will allow me to add meaningful, engaging, and FUN reading activities to my guided reading groups increasing student achievement and overall growth!
With the laptop and printer I have chosen, I will be able to add hands on activities to my lessons that will keep my students wanting more and more!
For example, a lesson on identifying beginning sounds now can include consonant-vowel-consonant cards I can create and print for my students to manipulate during the lesson taking the learning from abstract to concrete.
