If I Only Had a Brain

My students need preserved mammal brains, hearts, and eyes for their study of the human body system.

My Students

What child isn't curious about what goes on inside the human body. Dissection captures student's attention in a way that worksheets, textbooks, and videos cannot.

My students love hands on activities.

They live in a rural community in Northern California, and are comfortable being in and around nature. Our students enjoy hands-on learning, and through these types of activities, we are able to reach even the most reluctant learners.

My Project

The requested material will allow my 7th grade students to apply what they learn about the human body to real life mammal organs. When a new class of 7th grade students arrives in the science lab, the first question they ask is whether or not they really do get to dissect a sheep brain.

Dissection is the big event for our 7th grade science students.

They all look forward to participating in the dissections at the end of our unit, and it is something they talk about for months afterward.
