This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Neuroscience is the study of the brain and the nervous system. In addition to the many physical growth and changes during childhood, there are many emotional and social challenges that are tied directly to brain development. The impulse control and the ability to make long term decisions has not been fully developed yet. This makes some students more likely to be impulsive and prone to risky behaviors.

Having a visual of a brain to explain the science of what is happening is a good starting point for students to understand how the transition from a child brain to an adult brain may be a stressful time.

By learning and appreciating the science of brain development during childhood, students will be better informed, feel empowered in their learning, and understand themselves more, resulting in more mindful decision making.
