My Students

My students are some of the most amazing kids out there. Our school is in the middle of military housing.

All of my students are military dependents.

They spend their days seeing a parent off to work in that military uniform knowing they are fighting for our country. Many of them see that parent off knowing they won't see them for 6 to 9 months and in some cases even up to a year.

They don't complain. This is their life. And it is an important one. I work every day with some of the most amazing children who come to class each and every day eager to learn and share their experiences with me.

My Project

Young readers learn to read by listening to great readers. Having an easy to use CD player will give my students the opportunity to listen to great readers reading great books. During our Guided Reading centers, the students will have an opportunity to go to our classroom library. After listening to a great story on our new listening post, they will then be able to read that book, and many others.

The more young readers hear great readers, the better their own fluency becomes.

My students love to hear me read. I want them to have the opportunity to listen to more readers read. Nothing improves a book more than an animated, fun reader.

In order to have a comfortable listening experience, we need better head phones. Head phones that are comfortable and reliable can make all of the difference.
