My Students
Do you remember all the times you played "pretend" and used your imagination?
I teach in an inner city school.
Currently I have 18 students but am sadly expecting that number to increase. My students face many emotional and educational challenges. Therefore I am often challenged to find more effective ways of reaching my students.
My Project
Last year my students and I received a number of puppets. My kids love pretending with the puppets. We use this as a reading station. The kids might read the story of "The Three Little Pigs" and use the puppets to act out the story. Since I'm always looking for a way to make it more fun and engaging, what could be better then a stage and a way to store our puppets?
Not only would this stage be used as a stage but we could also incorporate another dramatic play area during math by setting it up as a market area. We have the groceries and the cash register now we just need the counter.
Thank you for providing my students with the opportunity to develop a creative outlet.
Dramatic play is so important in developing the creative soul. Many times my kids have had limited exposure to using their imagination. Help me make first grade a place they can play and learn!
