My students need a variety of ways to learn concepts and opportunities to practice. Many of these students do not interact with this type of technology at home.
Do you remember the first time you saw a computer or played a game on your phone? Research shows that children learn through hands-on activities. I would like to use these iPads in my kindergarten classroom for teaching a variety of concepts.
My students are mostly five years old as they enter my room and their enthusiasm and energy is contagious.
Many of my students' only time of technological exposure is during the school day. What better way to teach them than by incorporating the iPads into my instruction? They are a wonderful way to educate in a joyful manner. The educational wave is demanding proficiency with technology and I want to make sure my kiddos are ready for their bright futures.
My Project
My students are required to embrace technology, but not all have this technology at home. In order to make sure they are ready, I would like to provide the opportunity to learn with these tools in our classroom. There are many engaging ways to discover learning on the iPads. Listening to stories, while following along with the words replaces the old listening centers of yesterday. Math concepts on an iPad are much more engaging than worksheets! Cooperative learning games played together help the kinders work together to achieve a goal.
Many of the students at our school are English Language Learners and with these iPads they will be able to access the learning in a way that will prepare them for tomorrow's learning today.
