Idea Paint for the Science Classroom: Reduce and Save the Earth
My students need dry erase paint for our classroom. Let's reduce the paper. Let's let students write on the wall! Help inspire learning in the classroom while reducing.
How many times were you told during school to NOT write on the tables? How many times did you throw paper away? HELP make my science classroom exciting and teach students how to reduce unnecessary paper.
I work with some really awesome sixth, seventh and eighth grade students.
The majority of students at my school live in poverty. Being in the city, students don't realize how they can help reduce pollution. They need to be taught what little things that they can do to help save our Earth.
The majority of my students are at-risk. I need them to get excited about school and to keep them motivated. This project can make the difference.
My Project
Wouldn't most kids LOVE to write on a wall or table? What if we could do that in my science classroom and save paper and get the kids excited over science?
I want to purchase dry erase board paint to put on my cabinet doors, tables and/or walls so kids can write and erase and not only have fun learning but save on all the unnecessary paper and pencils.
Instead of an exit paper out of class, how about writing down your questions or what you learned that day on the cabinet door on your way out? What if kids could brainstorm by writing on the tables in front of them?
Imagine writing directions using a dry erase pen on the tables or walls for lab stations. Oh the paper we could save. Oh the sharing we could do together!
I went to a conference and spoke with teachers that put this paint in their classrooms.
They said it was a HUGE success. It increased student participation. It was fun while being useful. It saves on paper and makes even a wall or cabinet a learning area.
I cannot afford to buy this paint on my own. The only way we can do this is with the help from Donor's Chose. If you want to see an interactive classroom working on reducing paper waste you can help make it happen by supporting my project.
