This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We work in a special needs school with primarily Children on the Autism Spectrum and some who are multi-handicapped. Almost every single one of our 95 students receive Speech Therapy Services. The ipad is a very powerful tool in the world of Speech.
iPads can help our students on the Autism Spectrum communicate using Alternative Augmentative Communication apps.
They also help with other functional skills a student may need, i.e. emotion journals, tables, learning apps; Scheduling and routine apps; Social skill apps; cause and effect apps; Activities of Daily Living (ADL) apps; assessment apps.
We have 4 Speech Teachers/SLP-CCC's in our school. We can no longer keep up with the newest in Speech app development with our fourth gen ipads. Technology is constantly changing and updating. We need new ones to be able to more effectively help our students communicate and develop functional skills.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
