My Project
As our students continue to grow in the 21st century, technology continues to advance. It has been a difficult transition post pandemic for these children. They went from learning and participating in therapy through a computer with use of music, videos, and games to sitting in a classroom.
We work with Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade students diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, developmental and intellectual disabilities in a special education school.
Our students are motivated by music, videos, games, and fun!
An iPad can help us work on the following: finger isolation, figure-ground discrimination, sequencing, right-left discrimination, direction following, crossing midline, turn taking, bilateral upper extremity skills, visual motor-visual perceptual skills, social interaction, motor planning, memory recall, cause and effect, pre-writing, handwriting, problem solving, keyboarding, behavior, etc.
Getting an iPad will help motivate our students to engage in therapy sessions. It will help us tap into our students’ world and allow them to participate in engaging, creative and fun therapy. As the world of technology continues to move forward, it is important for the OT practitioners to stay current with treatment strategies so that we can serve our students in the best way possible!
