My Students

My students are amazing learners who come to school lacking many life experiences. I teach social and emotional regulation skills to 50 students with various special needs. My students need an iPad in order for them to gain these important life skills in ways that children today learn best.

My students are amazing learners who love to explore new things.

All of my students are unique but one thing is the same: they need to experience their learning through a variety of mediums. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and face many challenges before even entering our school. We work together everyday to overcome those challenges and reach new heights. I work with about 50 special education students every week, reaching kids with various disabilities. Some of my students struggle with reading, others with speaking. Other students I work with struggle to stay on task, others struggle to understand their own feelings. Technology helps all of my children to learn without letting their disabilities get in their way.

My Project

My students will use their new iPad to access social and emotional lessons. Technology such as an iPad allows my students to learn in ways that make sure that their disabilities don't get in the way. My students will use their new iPad to create movies about conflict resolution and positive character traits. The iPad will allow my students to watch video clips on emotion management and solving problems. This iPad will allow my students to experience their learning through a new medium.

My amazing students will not be held back by the fact that they struggle with reading or speaking when they utilize this new iPad- they will be able to learn, unhampered by their disabilities.

Many of my students come from homes without access to technology. For many this iPad will be a new experience both with technology and in learning in ways the haven't before.
