My students need 4 iPods to help build their fluency skills, so they can record themselves reading, and then play it back and hear how they did.

My Students
Do you remember hiding behind one of your seat partners so your teacher didn't ask you to read in class? Too many of my students are afraid to read out loud in class because they feel they are poor readers. Help my students WANT to read in front of their classmates!
My students come from homes where opportunities to succeed are few and far between.
My classroom is a safe place for my students to learn and succeed. They thrive on the opportunity to use technology in the classroom. Our principal has done her best to allow access to as much technology in the classroom as her budget can afford. At our school, we are all about creating innovative and exciting ways to allow students to grow.
My Project
Students will be using the 4 iPods to record and listen to themselves as they read. Each group has 4-5 students in it. They will be working with members of their group to record and listen to themselves, as well as each other. They can provide their classmates with tips and pointers to improve their reading fluency. It also allows me to save files digitally, to keep track of student progress. As students grow in their fluency abilities, they can also listen to their older recordings and hear the progress they have made. This gives them the confidence they need to be a proficient reader.
By using digital records, my students will be able to monitor their progress as a reader.
It will help them build the confidence they need to become stronger, more proficient readers. Not only will this make them feel better about their reading abilities, it will also allow them to do better in other subjects as well. This will provide my students with the opportunity to learn how to use technology in a safe and responsible manner
