My Students

I teach eighteen third-grade students at a diverse school in a high-poverty area of Central Florida.

My school includes many unique student populations, including students with exceptionalities and a high percentage of English language learners. I teach an ESE inclusion class; several of my students have specific learning disabilities in the areas of reading and math. My students are eager, enthusiastic, and love to learn! They are creative, innovative, and think outside the box. My class is working, learning, and growing together in a positive, student-centered environment. Together, they are finding proactive solutions to challenges and are laying the foundations for their dreams and aspirations.

My Project

An iPad mini would be used in our classroom MakerSpace, which includes robots and electronics kits, to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math concepts and experiments. Apps such as Wonder, Xylo, and Go drive our robots and teach students computer coding and math skills. An iPad mini would also help my students to learn mathematical concepts in small group and in individual lessons with apps such as Mathamateer and Thinking Blocks. These apps make math fun and build foundational skills as students use critical-thinking processes to solve engaging math challenges.

Donations to this project will completely change the way my students think about math and science!

An iPad mini will allow my students to collaborate and create as they work together to solve mathematical challenges. When paired with our classroom robots, an iPad mini will also allow my students to learn basic coding skills.
