I Won't Cut Ties With My Students!

My Students

Our students are resilient, kind, caring, and dedicated students. They are doing their very best to continue learning through these unprecedented times.

Our school is built on relationships; this is something that is incredibly difficult to maintain during these times.

We are doing our best, through Google Meets, office hours, and emails, but it is just not the same. We are also only reaching a small percentage of our students during these meetings.

The kids are also missing the end of the year activities. Since my co-teacher and I share our students for two years, there are special events that the students were looking forward to that cannot happen now in the same way.

My Project

I can think of so many ways I will use this Cricut machine and accessories in my virtual classroom.

I will use this Cricut to help maintain relationships with my students.

Our school, and our classroom in particular, is built on relationships. My students know that they are safe and loved during the school day, and this helps them learn. We are doing our best right now, but with the current times, many of those relationships are so much harder to maintain. With video meets and email, I can reach some of my students, though not all.

With this machine, I plan to create individualized water bottles for the students, which I can then deliver to their houses, or (fingers crossed) at an event in the future where the kids can get together in small groups. This way, the students have a special, end of the year gift from their teachers, but, more importantly, they will know that we have been thinking about them all the time during this time of distance learning.

I also want to create Flat Mrs. Lazar which I can print from the Cricut. I can send these to my students and have them take "me" on adventures with them, maintaining our relationship.
