I Wish.....Touchscreen for Kids with Disabilities

My students need an interactive board to be able to work on and make gains both functionally and academically.

My Students

My students work daily on an iPad and many have shown significant gains with academic and functional skills. My students are able to communicate more and have been improving in all areas of school with the iPads. They would benefit so much having an interactive touch screen board.

My students are currently in a self contained EC Classroom for students ranging from mild to severe disabilities.

Some of the students are independent with feeding and bathroom skills but most require assistance. Currently there are six children in my class but this does change frequently and have had as many as ten students.

My Project

My students have shown so much progress working on activities that involve the iPad. The iPads have been used for communication, academics, functional, and behavior teaching methods. The students would benefit from this touchscreen board by participating in group based learning. They have shown so much progress with technology but become frustrated that our current board is not touch screen. It becomes more of a distraction to them than a beneficial teaching tool.

If enough donations are collected to make this dream a reality for my students it will enrich the lives of each and every student.

They will be able to actively participate in group discussions and lessons. My students that are physically limited to grasping and holding school materials would now be able to fully participate with the whole class.
