This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are sweet, intelligent, lovable and everything you wish a child to be. They have strengths and struggles and immense potential; they are wonderful and I would like to help them become better.

We are a 2nd grade classroom in Alief ISD in Houston, TX.

More than three-fourth of my students are bilingual, and come from low income households. We are a diverse group in both academic/reading and creative levels. We have a wide array of interests, but literature and reading is our number one friend.

My Project

I want to have a rich and wonderful library in my classroom full of books in order to ignite and preserve wonder, love, kindness, and all types of learning/growing in my kiddos.

I want us to have books that encourage curiosity, and have us travel all around and outside of our wonderful world.

I also would like to have books to encourage girls in STEM, immigrant students and students of immigrant families to relate to characters in their books, children from low income households to find hope in the books they come across in my library, to start loving a possibility of a better future; books that can encourage an internal sense of a child's motivation or drive; books that provoke reaching places they wouldn't dare. Books that can help them grow... into who they are inside.
