My Students
"You were made to be AWESOME!"—Kid President
My students are enthusiastic learners who are very excited about reading, writing, and social studies.
They are very inquisitive and love to ask lots of questions. The children in my classes are beyond amazing and will make a special impact on the world. However, with our universal free breakfast and lunch program because of our poverty level, it can be hard to provide the opportunities that our students deserve.
Students come to school each year looking for engaging, high interest books. However, with the reality of COVID-19, our school year will look very different this year. Students will not be able to work in groups or attend field trips. So instead of pouting about it, I want to bring a virtual field trip to our third graders!
My Project
Our students have struggled with so many unknowns since schools closed in March 2020. While we are hoping to reopen our buildings, it does not look like we will be able to take any field trips. School will look very different than what students are used to. However, I would love to excite students in new and creative digital ways!
As a grade level, we will read the book "Wish" and then virtually host the author Barbara O'Connor.
We will study her craft and delve into the characters and plot. After finishing the novel, we will host this amazing author on a virtual "field trip!" Being able to "meet" the author and learn about her writing process will make this novel study even more special!
