Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Since Covid-19 caused the district to close, most of our students are isolated and without access to the outside world. They have limited resources and are struggling to learn at home.
They live in a high-crime, urban neighborhood and many of them have experienced trauma.
That being said, our students have always come to school with bright shiny faces and smiles that light up the room.
Our school has remained a dependable source of comfort and love that our students require to prosper. Many are struggling to make sense of what's happening around them, and rely on us to be their foundation for consistency.
My goal is to give them as many remote music-learning opportunities to my students, with minimal resources available, all while continuing to build their musical opportunities in the future.
My Project
The beat must go on! No pandemic will stop me from making music education accessible to my students. They are so musical and love to express themselves in anyway they can.
I owe it to them to give them every opportunity to use music as a way to make sense of the chaos around them.
These supplies will help me create the visuals that are imperative to continuing their music education while at home. They will enhance my recorded and zoom lessons, to help reinforce and teach new music content.
