Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In order for children to grow as learners, teachers need to find strategies that work best for their students. Through music, movement, hands-on learning, literature, and technology, I strive to reach those students who yearn for a different way to learn.
My students are very energetic, excited, and enthusiastic about learning!
My goal is to create the best learning environment for my students. Our school is a PreK-2 elementary school. Our school is located in a rural community. We are a Title I school and we serve ESL students and special education students as well.
In my kindergarten class, I have students with different needs and learning styles. Our classroom is very diverse with students from all backgrounds. Many of my students are ELL and have special needs. Being bilingual myself I am able to offer my Spanish speaking students, and their families, a comfort in knowing that they are able to communicate with me and I am able to communicate with them in their Native language. Meeting all my students' needs is a priority in my classroom.
My Project
Celebrating diversity in my classroom has always been very important to me. I want all of my students to see themselves in the books I read to them and the books they choose to read.
In our classroom, we celebrate our differences; we respect each other; and we honor our many traditions.
With your help, I want to grow our classroom library to provide all my students with books that celebrate and reflect each of them. These books will also create opportunities for important conversations that we must have with our students.
