Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you ever want to do something and your parents said "No!" because it costs too much? My students hear that everyday. Please help the parents of my students say "Yes!" to band!
I teach music to students in pre-K to 6th grade.
My elementary school is in Illinois, and 90% of the students qualify for reduced or free lunch. These students are hungry for musical knowledge and hands-on activities.
I have a before-school band program that I began 3 years ago. In the beginning I received a sizable grant to purchase instruments. Many of my students come from poor families that cannot afford to rent-to-own an instrument from the local music store. For these students I have school-owned instruments. The great thing is that I have so many students involved in the program I have no school instruments left!!! The reality is that there will be no instruments available to next year's 5th graders that cannot afford the rental fees.
My Project
Part of the solution to this problem is this Blessing trombone. It is a quality instrument that will be used by a needy student in beginning band. This student would otherwise not be able to learn an instrument at my elementary school because of poverty.
Your donation will give a student the chance to learn the trombone.
The student who will benefit from this donation will be extremely grateful and motivated to be the best trombone player in the band. Who knows this student may be the principal trombonist in the CSO!!!
More than half of students from low‑income households
